Well Care, Annual Checkups, and Sick Care for Infants, Children, and Adolescents

For More Information 855-855-6484

Children are not small adults. As board-certified pediatricians, we are trained to understand this critical difference. From the moment we meet your child, and through every encounter, our pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners listen to you, address your child's concerns, and answer your questions. From birth through the transition to adulthood, we address your child's medical, psychological, and social needs with compassion and understanding.

Well Care and Sick Care for Babies, Toddlers, and Children

During well care, annual physicals, and sick visits, we monitor your child's growth and development to ensure they reach important milestones and learn to adopt healthy habits. We keep track of their progress; conduct hearing, vision, behavioral, and developmental screenings; address social health concerns; and perform immunizations as needed.

Lactation Consultants Available at Duke Hospitals and Select Primary Care Clinics

We offer lactation consultations with certified lactation consultants at Duke hospitals and select primary care clinics to assist with breastfeeding concerns. We share guidance on all aspects of breastfeeding, and we offer a private room where you can feed your baby while consulting with our nurse. Lactation consultations are also available via telehealth. Contact your primary care clinic to see how you can make an appointment with a lactation consultant.

24-Hour Nurse Advice Line for After-Hours Questions

Children don't operate on a nine-to-five schedule. Neither do we. If you have concerns after hours, we encourage you to call our 24-hour nurse advice line. A nurse will answer your questions and offer guidance if your child is sick or needs immediate care.

Convenient Care for Sick Children

Duke pediatricians are located throughout the Triangle. Many offer online scheduling, same-day or next-day appointments, and virtual visits. They take place on a computer or mobile device with a camera using secure videoconferencing software that protects your child's privacy.

Your Child's Care Is Well-Connected

Family Medicine Practitioners for Your Entire Family
Our family physicians establish a long-term relationship with you and your family, focused on keeping you and your children healthy and preventing illness. They offer well-child visits for developmental screenings, immunizations, and parental guidance to help your child meet growth milestones.

Referrals to Pediatric Specialists
If your child needs specialty care, we can direct you to Duke Children's pediatric specialists. As part of a nationally ranked medical center, they have access to the latest research, technology, and medical advances, many of which are discovered at Duke Health. Our pediatricians coordinate your child's care if they need referrals for weight management concerns; chronic health problems; or special developmental, learning, or mental health needs.

You can schedule a new appointment with some of our providers online. Use this link to find available times and clinic locations.

Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine
While our pediatricians are all trained to care for adolescents, your teen also has the option to be seen by our adolescent medicine specialists. They complete additional training in the complex issues that arise in the teen and young adult years. Such issues might include pubertal or menstrual problems, stress and mood difficulties, risky behavior concerns, eating and body image issues, and questions about relationships and sexuality. Our adolescent medicine specialists can guide your teen and your family during these sometimes challenging years.
