Treatment for addiction and substance abuse

Everyone's needs are different when it comes to managing and controlling addiction or substance abuse. We understand how your struggle can strain relationships, and make it difficult to function in society. If you or a loved one is struggling to overcome an addiction or substance abuse problem, our licensed therapists and medical experts can help. Our experts are trained addiction specialists who also conduct research into the cause of addictive behavior, and the way the brain functions. We offer a range of options for treating addiction, from medical management to individual and group therapy. You do not have to struggle on your own. Our goal is to provide the support and care you need on an outpatient basis. You learn new coping mechanisms to manage your daily life while you recover.

Our addiction and substance abuse program offers:

  • Comprehensive therapy options. We offer a full range of therapy options, from individual and group therapy to medical management.
  • Referrals. While we do not offer medical detoxification or residential treatment, we can facilitate your referral so you can start your individualized treatment as quickly as possible.
  • Specialists in substance abuse. Our licensed therapists are trained in psychotherapy and specialize in the treatment of addiction and substance abuse disorders. Our psychiatrists undergo advanced training in addiction.
  • Support and long term follow-up. If you require care following our outpatient substance abuse program, we can refer you to providers within the Duke system who can help prevent relapse.
