We combine the latest research advances with compassionate and personalized care to provide you with an individualized cancer treatment plan tailored to the stage and type of cancer you have. We don’t just treat your cancer; we treat your whole person.
  • Ranked among the best for cancer care. U.S. News & World Report ranks Duke’s cancer program among the nation’s top cancer treatment programs. Our doctors are recognized leaders for their roles in developing new drugs, cancer vaccines, and novel approaches to treating cancer and related symptoms through our ongoing clinical trials. We are also part of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), an alliance of the nation’s leading cancer centers dedicated to improving care for patients.
  • Team approach to your cancer care. Our medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists work closely together to ensure you receive the best possible cancer care. Our teams also include counselors, pharmacists, social workers and other cancer specific caregivers dedicated to your cancer treatment and support. Studies show that receiving cancer treatment from multiple specialists results in better outcomes.
  • Unprecedented clinical trial access. As the recipient of more than $300 million annually in research funding, we offer you access to clinical trials at the forefront of cancer treatment, as well as advances in technologies and techniques, long before they become routinely available. You may be eligible to participate in our clinical trials, which test new cancer therapies, and explore genomics, the study of genes, how they function, and their impact on health. These efforts ensure you receive more personalized cancer treatment options.
  • Advanced diagnostic tools. Our board-certified imaging specialists routinely use the latest technologies, including 3-D scans and high-resolution cameras, to detect cancer at the earliest possible stage. New technology allows us to find smaller cancers that are difficult to detect on traditional imaging machines. Our screening and diagnostic imaging is offered at several convenient locations.
  • Comprehensive support for you and your loved ones. We offer a full array of cancer support services for you and your family to help you cope with cancer and survivorship. Our programs range from individual counseling sessions with certified therapists dedicated to caring for cancer patients to financial counseling and help with housing and transportation. We also offer support groups, spiritual guidance, and recreation therapy. View all of our cancer support groups in our event calendar.
  • Cancer patient education program. We available through all the phases of your cancer journey. Meet with our staff at the Patient Resource Center to gain a better understanding about prevention, early detection, disease-specific cancers, treatments, side effects, research and clinical trials, complementary therapies, support, emotional care, children's concerns, and end-of-life care. We offer classes in chemotherapy education, breast reconstruction, cancer nutrition, quitting smoking, diabetes education, and free legal services.
  • Convenient care. Depending on the type of cancer you have and the treatment you need, you may choose to see your doctor in either Durham or Raleigh. We have several locations in Wake County. And, The Duke Cancer Center in Durham features spacious waiting areas, a Quiet Room, large infusion rooms, and a rooftop garden area where patients — based on their treatment regimen — can receive chemotherapy outdoors.
  • Far-reaching programs. The Duke Cancer Network provides an array of cancer services in a regional network of 20 community cancer programs in North Carolina and the Southeast. As a result, we offer you and your provider access to clinical trials as well as the latest research and education programs.
  • Advanced medical records technology. Our secure online portal, Duke MyChart, allows you to view test results, make appointments, request prescription renewals, and message your doctor using any Web-enabled device. Our technology also allows anyone on your care team to securely access your health information, making sure you always get care that's right for you and based on the latest evidence.
