ABOUT ME

I was inspired to become a doctor from the example my parents set, who were both healthcare professionals. I saw my first patient with a complex retinal degeneration syndrome when I was an Ophthalmology intern, and that became my calling to the field of retinal degenerations and ophthalmic genetics. Broadly speaking, I am a medical retina specialist. I focus primarily on retinal degenerations and dystrophies (such as retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt disease, cone- and cone-rod dystrophy, Usher syndrome, Bardet-Biedl syndrome, choroideremia, retinoschisis, achromatopsia, blue cone monochromacy, and related conditions). I also have a strong interest in autoimmune retinopathies and age-related macular degeneration, and see also patients with retinal vascular problems. Being a father to my son is my biggest priority in life. We also have a special bond because we are both fluent in Italian, which is what we speak with one another. My hobbies include cooking, biking, photography, and traveling.
