In addition to Duke Health's financial care counselors, there are many community resources that can help you with billing and payment-related issues. Here are just a few.
 

Health Insurance Marketplace

HealthCare.gov

The Health Insurance Marketplace ("exchange”) can help you find health insurance coverage issued by the government and private companies.  You can shop, compare, and choose a plan that meets your family’s needs and find out if you qualify for federal tax credits and subsidies, Medicaid, or North Carolina Choice.

Receive the following services for physical, psychiatric or intellectual disabilities, deaf, hard of hearing, or other communicative disorders:

  • Counseling
  • Training
  • Education
  • Transportation
  • Job placement and maintaining employment
  • Assistive technology
  • Independently living
  • Other support services

  • Are a resident of Durham, Wake, or Johnston Counties

If you apply and meet financial eligibility requirements and are able to prove you are a N.C. resident, you can receive health care coverage for the following:

  • Sickle cell syndrome
  • HIV medications
  • Infant early intervention services
