About Me

I am a clinician-researcher whose work focuses on children, adolescents, and adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and related difficulties. My research has been critical in the development of new treatments for ADHD (both medication and behavioral) and in understanding why individuals with ADHD smoke cigarettes and use other drugs at higher rates than the general population. In addition to my research, which has been funded by a wide range of federal and industry sponsors, I am an active clinician at the Duke ADHD Program. I also provide supervision to trainees through the program. The Duke ADHD Program offers many assessment, treatment, and educational services to patients, their families, and the community.

Clinical Focus and Research
My Research Interests

My laboratory is focused on addressing a number of health-related problems associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We are interested in why individuals with ADHD smoke cigarettes more than those without the disorder, and we are also studying the effects of secondhand smoke on early development of ADHD-related problems. We also conduct many treatment studies for new medications to manage ADHD in children, adolescents, and adults.
