About Me

I am a neurologist at Duke and specialize in epilepsy. I see people who have seizures and are trying to figure what is causing them, or patients who have been diagnosed with epilepsy and have seizures that are hard to control. There are many options for managing epilepsy, including tools for diagnosis, medication, implantable devices, and epilepsy surgery. There are also things with epilepsy that need to be managed and treated, in addition to seizures, such as depression, cognitive problems, or physical issues from seizures or side effects. Since there are so many options, only a place that has multiple specialists in many areas who come together and look at a case can offer those options. Here at Duke, every week we have a meeting with neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, EEG techs, neurologists, and pediatric neurologists. We look at individual cases and decide what the best approach is for a given patient.
