I am interested in helping to advance the way we treat patients and applying new and innovative techniques to improve patients’ outcomes and quality of life. Heart surgery is special in that we can make people feel better and live more active lives. This is what makes it such a wonderful specialty and what keeps us working so hard to make it a safer and easier experience for patients. We see an incredible range of heart and vascular problems here at Duke Health. We have extensive experience treating these issues with unparalleled success. At Duke Health, there is a commitment to excellence and employing what is proven to be the best treatment for an individual patient and that is something we strive for every day. My background is in engineering and I find that to be a perfect fit with heart surgery. Duke is the perfect fit for me because we apply the resources of a major academic center and a community of world experts, to get the best results for our patients.

Clinical Focus and Research
MY RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research interests involve studying clinical outcomes and making certain we are doing what is best for our patients. I am studying minimally invasive and endovascular techniques in cardiac surgery and I am specifically interested in diseases of the aortic valve and of the aorta. I am involved with the IRAD database of patients with aortic dissections. I also have a role with the transcatheter aortic valve devices and thoracic endografts for aortic aneurysmal disease and dissections.
