Ryan Heider, MD

Under Dr. Heider's leadership as medical director for the surgical weight loss program, recognitions include: the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP); the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Quality Partner Diamond Award; Designated Member, Blue Distinction Centers+ for Bariatric Surgery(r) Program (BDC+); and Designated Institute of Quality by Aetna Institutes of Quality(r) (IOQ) Bariatric Program. While at UNC, he participated in a variety of advanced minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures, including laparoscopic gastric bypass, gastrectomy and esophageal surgery. Dr. Heider has also published numerous articles and completed extensive research in the area of advanced laparoscopic surgery.
