WHERE I PROVIDE CARE
Profile
ABOUT ME

I have been a part of the Duke Orthopaedics Department since completing Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at Duke in 1981. My life has centered around patients and family, in addition to teaching and mentoring orthopaedic residents and hand fellows. My spirit is demonstrated by three awards that I have been honored to receive. The Leonard Palumbo, Jr., M.D. Faculty Achievement Award was given "in recognition of deep and abiding compassion in the care of patients and a tradition of excellence in the teaching and mentoring of young physicians." The Frank H. Bassett, M.D. Faculty Teaching Award was given "in recognition and appreciation of excellence in clinical instruction and commitment to resident education." And, the Duke Health System Strength, Hope and Caring Award was given for excellence in clinical service. I have also been included in "North Carolina's Best Doctors", "Best Doctor's in America", and America's Top Doctors (Castle Connelly). For more than 30 years, my orthopaedic focus was centered around replantation and complex upper extremity reconstruction. Currently, my practice is primarily at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center where I serve as Chief of the Orthopaedic Hand Section. However, at Duke Orthopaedics at Page Road, I provide needle aponeurotomy for treating Dupuytren's contractures.
