Patients generally come to me with knee and hip pain that has been present for months to years. Many come in with painful arthritis where normal activities like getting out of bed or walking through the grocery store are really painful. I like to sit down with them and listen to their concerns. I then tailor their treatment from there. I generally leave it open to the patient in terms of treatment options – conservative vs. surgical – and let them tell me when they feel it is time to move to the next step, which for me would be joint replacement surgery. Most have been through some type of workup through their primary care physician for their pain, with treatments ranging from anti-inflammatory medications to physical therapy, and possibly some injections. They then get referred to me for continued care. Definitely the best part of my job is seeing patients who have had joint replacement and the joy in their face once they’ve been able to get back to having a normal life.
I am a member of a joint replacement team that offers the full spectrum of total and partial joint replacement and revision surgeries, including elbow replacement, shoulder replacement, knee replacement, hip replacement, and ankle replacement.
