About Me

I am a surgeon who focuses on the care of people with both malignant and benign breast disease. I feel privileged to be able to care for patients as they live through and beyond a diagnosis with breast cancer, and I feel fortunate to be able to offer them world-class care here at Duke Health. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the beautiful trails, great food and vibrant atmosphere of the Triangle with my husband and our children.

Clinical Focus and Research
My Research Interests

Thanks to the courage of breast cancer patients, the advocacy of survivors, the compassion of oncologists and the innovation of researchers, women diagnosed with breast cancer today are more likely than ever to not only be cured of breast cancer but also to thrive long beyond their initial diagnosis. However, there are women around the world who succumb to breast cancer because of life circumstances or personal characteristics that diminish the likelihood of their receiving the kind of care all breast cancer patients deserve. Through my research, I hope to improve outcomes for precisely these women, those least likely to benefit from the overall progress that has been made in breast cancer care. My work explores how we can collectively reduce disparities in breast cancer outcomes both in this country and around the world and on how we can improve both the quality and efficiency with which care is delivered to breast cancer patients.
