About Me

My clinical areas of expertise include cancer risk counseling, screening for and prevention of inherited cancers, and providing gynecologic care to cancer patients. Since 2005, I have served on the Cancer Prevention and Control Committee of the Gynecologic Oncology Group and NRG Oncology, and I currently co-chair the Prevention/Behavioral/Epidemiology working group. Previously I have served on the Education Committee of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and the Committee on Genetics of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I am also the Duke Cancer Institute representative to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Panel - Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast and Ovarian.

My Research Interests

My research interests include the role of genetic counseling on the evaluation and management of individuals with an inherited predisposition to cancer, the efficacy and impact of risk-reducing strategies performed for the prevention of hereditary cancers, and the identification of both genetic and environmental markers that may allow both therapeutic and risk-reduction strategies to be tailored to individual patients at increased risk for cancer.

Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
