About Me

I’m a cardiologist who has been at Duke since 1987. I enjoy being at Duke, because I get to work with some of the field’s top experts and my patients have access to all of the best heart treatment options that are available today. As a child growing up in Ohio, I developed a close relationship with my primary care provider, and that led me to medicine. In medical school, my favorite professor was a cardiologist who had a great mind and a great way of relating to patients. That professor inspired me to become a cardiologist and continues to inspire me today. As a cardiologist, I enjoy the trust and responsibility that comes with sitting down with patients in their most vulnerable state and trying to help them. I also enjoy the technical process of operating on patients. My hobbies include reading about history and traveling to historic sites.
