ABOUT ME

I am a clinical psychologist for Duke Integrative Medicine. I am passionate about helping people overcome less than optimal cognitive and behavioral habits in order for them to live a more meaningful and purposeful existence.  I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) and use both to help clients move through emotional obstacles, improve resiliency and become great in their lives based on their own strengths and values. Cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing combined is one of the most empirically supported treatments for creating positive health change behaviors for a wide variety of issues (e.g. health problems, depression, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, addictive behaviors, adjustment disorders, etc.). In addition, I take a flexible, fluid and personalized approach to each patient’s presentation and use a wide variety of other tools such as acceptance commitment therapy, mindfulness based practices and positive psychology, as well as attend to other important facets of living such as eating, sleeping, exercising, socializing and spirituality practices.
