Insurance

Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy

WHERE I PROVIDE CARE
Profile
ABOUT ME

I became a physician to care for people. Eric Cassell observes that "doctors do not treat diseases, they treat patients." I appreciate that I learned how to do that in residency and fellowship. I strive to care for people compassionately, wisely, and well. As a result, I am a consult-liaison and inpatient psychiatrist. Many of the patients whom I see are suffering major physical and/or mental health crises, and I work with teams of people (nurses, social workers, chaplains, other physicians and clinicians) to provide the best care possible when it is most needed. I have a particular interest in mental health in severe medical illness and at the end of life. When I'm not in the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my family, writing, reading, and cooking.
