WHERE I PROVIDE CARE
Profile
ABOUT ME

As a glaucoma specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist, I take care of a wide range of patients. There’s no better eye care on the planet than here at Duke. We can handle everything, and we handle it very, very well. We are as well-equipped as any facility on Earth, and we have some of the brightest minds in ophthalmology today. I became interested in ophthalmology when I was in medical school and seeing patients in the ophthalmology department during a summer internship. I so well remember a surgeon taking a patch off a patient’s eye after cataract surgery, and the woman burst into tears and said, “Oh my God, I can see again.” I was sold, lock, stock and barrel. I’m a second generation physician. Both my parents were physicians. In fact, both worked for Duke at times during their career. I knew I wanted to be a physician from the time I was in diapers in a playpen behind the receptionist’s desk in my parents’ office in Burlington, N.C.
