About Me
As the son of a registered nurse who worked in the operating room at our local hospital, I developed an early interest in surgery. This interest was furthered by an encounter with a surgeon who cared for me when I had my appendix removed. This surgeon would later become a mentor during my surgical training. After my training, my family and I settled here in North Carolina. I enjoy seeing the variety of patients with surgical problems that come to me for care. In the early years of my surgical practice, I realized the local need for specialized training and skills for diseases of the breast. This guided my study of advanced surgical and non-surgical options including obtaining certification in breast ultrasound. We love living here in North Carolina where my wife and I raised our two children. One of the joys of being part of this community is being blessed to care for patients who are the children or even grandchildren of former patients. When time allows, I enjoy hunting, farming, and spending time with my family.

Ratings and Reviews
The Patient Rating score is an average of all responses to care provider related questions on our nationally-recognized Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Learn more about our survey process. Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best score. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.
