About Me
I work with people in our three programs: Duke Sports Performance for athletes who are currently competing, Duke Lifelong Athlete for those ages 40+ who want to enjoy their athletic gifts for as long as possible, and EverStrong for those who want to stay strong despite advancing age. Clients may choose personal training sessions, consultations, laboratory performance assessments, field testing, and body composition testing. I have helped athletes ages 8 to 91 in dozens of sports. I have trained the full spectrum of clients from professional athletes to people with complicated medical issues, and from pure power athletes, such as shot putters, to pure endurance athletes, such Ironman triathletes. In my personal life, I have competed in football, soccer, baseball, track and field, wrestling, 5K's, 10K's, marathons, triathlons, cycling events up to 100 miles, and have been a sponsored athlete in triathlons and cycling events. My most memorable experiences are three Grand Canyon wilderness marathons. I have earned certifications from the International Sports Medicine Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I have published articles in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, the journal Sports Medicine, Triathlete Magazine, Endurance Magazine, and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Clinical Focus and Research
I have published articles on exercise testing and training, endurance and strength, and healthy and diseased populations. That breadth of interests has prepared me to work with the spectrum of people that we serve.
