ABOUT ME

I am a family medicine physician at Duke. I’m originally from California where there’s a large Latino population and growing up I saw there was a need for more Latino physicians. I wanted to go into medicine to fill that void. I see mostly Spanish-only speaking patients. I chose family medicine because I felt it was important to help people stay healthy and prevent chronic illnesses. I enjoy seeing patients from all stages of life and particularly like spending time with my pediatric patients. In one day, I can see newborn, a teenager, and take care of grandma and grandpa. I like to spend time getting to know my patients, learning their goals and figuring out how I can help them accomplish those goals. Having the opportunity to intervene before diseases like diabetes and hypertension become a problem for patients is important to me.
