I see a large variety of patients who suffer from a multitude of eye diseases that affect the back of the eye – specifically, the retina and vitreous. I treat some simple but mostly complex retinal diseases, most commonly macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and other macular disease, as well as ocular trauma and uveitis. I became interested in medicine as a young child. My father is a psychiatrist and my mother a molecular biologist (both now retired), so I was surrounded by science and worked in biochemistry labs even as a young teenager. I also knew fairly early on that I wanted to become a surgeon. There is nothing more rewarding than helping others. I enjoy getting to know my patients and have a friendly relationship with them. As far as personal interests, I love to spend time with my wife and our two daughters. I am a soccer dad and a musician of sorts as I’ve played guitar and bass in several bands. I also enjoy photography and suffer through swimming, running, and other athletic “exploits.”
