About Me

I am a Functional Medicine Pediatrician. Functional medicine is a different system based approach to chronic problems utilizing the P4 approach- Predictive, Preventive, Personalized and Participatory. I see a patient after a detailed history form has been filled out. I then identify the antecedents (what sets them up for the problem), triggers (the event directly causing the imbalances) and mediators (what perpetuates the imbalances). We then meet (usually 1 hour) and review what I have learned. I use  the functional medicine tools of the time line and matrix to explain back to the patient and family their story and the imbalances. Together, we formulate a plan of action for further evaluation (history, testing); implement changes in lifestyle factors and remove what is irritating their systems or provide things that are needed to restore balance. I follow the patient noting their response  at regular intervals until their goals for outcome have been achieved. I love being in the Triangle area spending time with my grandchildren and having them help me with some woodworking.
