Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.

Below are the plans currently accepted in 2018. There are some changes to the plans accepted beginning January 1, 2019. More information will become available on PlanForDuke.com.

WHERE I PROVIDE CARE
Profile
ABOUT ME

I am a specialist in maternal-fetal medicine, which is a subspecialty of OB/GYN that focuses on the care of women with high-risk pregnancies. Duke is a very special place for those women. We have the opportunity to take care of women who have medical complications in pregnancy, obstetric complications or have been diagnosed as carrying a baby with a congenital anomaly. We are lucky at Duke to be able to work closely with a wide range of outstanding providers who are experts in their fields to help care for our patients. These include specialists in cardiology, endocrinology, rheumatology, neonatology and pediatric surgery. I chose OB/GYN, because I absolutely love delivering babies. When you think about life events for families, the birth of a child is one of those events that they’ll remember forever. To be able to be part of that is such a unique opportunity, as is helping women who have situations that complicate their pregnancy and delivery.

Clinical Focus and Research
MY RESEARCH INTERESTS

I conduct both basic science/laboratory research, as well as participate in running clinical studies. My laboratory research interests primarily focus on the hormone oxytocin and in understanding the mechanisms of uterine contractility. This work is translated then to the clinical care of women through studies dedicated to understanding normal and abnormal labor. In addition to our work in labor, our group is involved in understanding the role that medical conditions and complications have in pregnancy outcomes.
