WHERE I PROVIDE CARE
Profile
ABOUT ME

I’m a pediatric neurosurgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of epilepsy. I treat children with a myriad of neurosurgical disorders including brain and spinal cord tumors, craniosynostosis, moyamoya, Chiari malformation, spina bifida and hydrocephalus. When I first meet with a patient, it is important for me to truly listen to the family and understand their desires for their child as well as help them understand the various treatment options. I want every family to trust that I really care for their child.

Clinical Focus and Research
MY RESEARCH INTERESTS

My current research projects focus on developing new techniques for the treatment of hydrocephalus and noninvasive measurement of intracranial pressure (ICP). I won a Coulter Grant with collaborators in the Department of Biomedical Engineering to further develop our patented SmartShunt, a CSF-shunt which will permit noninvasive measurement of intracranial pressure. I am also collaborating with engineers and radiologists to develop a new MRI technique to determine elevated ICP or to find subtle evidence of traumatic brain injury. In my epilepsy work, I am working with a neurolinguistics PhD to create a comprehensive map of the locations of essential language sites in the brain to help determine safe areas for epilepsy and tumor resections.
