Profile
ABOUT ME

I take care of children who have heart defects or acquired heart disease from as early as in utero all the way through adulthood. I’ve been with Duke since 1981, and have taken care of tens of thousands of children in my 30-year career. Some of the children I’ve taken care of are now my adult patients. Duke provides children with even the most complex heart defects the best possible chance at a normal life. The team includes pediatric cardiology surgeons, critical care doctors, feeding specialists and social workers. One of the best experiences for me as a doctor was when a family of a child we helped said, ‘We can never repay you enough for helping our son.’ That was enough for a lifetime.
