Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.

Profile
ABOUT ME

I am a heart surgeon and researcher who treats patients with birth defects of the heart. I’ve been at Duke for 12 years. Since I treat patients who were born with defects, most of my patients tend to be children. My research looks at outcomes of patients who have had surgery and transplants to treat their heart defects. The best part of my job is seeing children do well after surgery. Knowing that a child may have a long and healthy life ahead of them is a special feeling. I also enjoy working with other practitioners and teams across Duke to give my patients the best care possible. We have the best and longest running program for adults with birth defects of the heart in the region, and I work with that group very closely. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, boating and being outdoors.
