Perioperative Tissue Penetration of Antimicrobials in Infants - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to learn if an antibiotic called Metronidazole is enough to help prevent infections after surgery.

What is the Condition Being Studied?

Antibiotics in Infant Bowel Surgery

Who Can Participate in the Study?

-Children 0-2 years old
-Scheduled to have intestinal operation for the removal of non-infected bowel.

Children

What is Involved?

If you choose to allow your child to join this study, we will:
-Take blood samples during the surgery from the IV (in the vein)
-Take a small piece of tissue from the intestine after it is removed
