What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to understand how technology can help adults with high blood pressure follow a heart-healthy eating plan to improve their blood pressure.

What is the Condition Being Studied?

High Blood Pressure

Who Can Participate in the Study?

Adult Men and Women who:
-Have high blood pressure
-Have a smart phone with a data plan and email address
-Are willing to get text messages every day
-Are able to participate in online study visits

Adults

What is Involved?

If you choose to join this study, you will:
-Be randomized (like flipping a coin) to 1 of 2 programs:
--In one program, we will ask you to track what you eat and drink every day on your smartphone
--In the other program, we will ask you to track what you eat and drink on your smartphone and you will receive daily text messages. You may also get support from a registered dietitian/health coach.

In both programs you will:
-Complete online study visits for 1 year.
-Get information on following the DASH eating plan.
-Take your blood pressure at home (we will give you a digital monitor).
