DHBS 2: Muscle Training for Children and Adolescents with Asthma - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to find out if inspiratory muscle training (IMT) and exercise can help increase the length of your exercise and make your respiratory muscle stronger.

What is the Condition Being Studied?

Muscle Training for Children and Adolescents with Asthma

Who Can Participate in the Study?

Children who:
- Are aged 10-17 years old
- Diagnosed with asthma
- Have not been playing in sports activities for the past 4 months

Age Group
Children

What is Involved?

If you choose to join this study, your child will:
- Be randomized (like drawing numbers out of a hat) to be in one of the four groups:
-- IMT training only
-- Exercise only
-- IMT training and exercise
-- Routine care with no new intervention (treatment)
- Have questionnaires, spirometry testings, 6-minute walk test, and respiratory muscle training exercises during clinic visits
- Be involved in this study for 6 weeks
