NicRed: Reduced Nicotine in Young Smokers - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to learn about reactions to, and choices to use, cigarettes with different amounts of nicotine. This research may help inform the Food and Drug Administration how best to regulate tobacco products in the future with the goal of improving public health.

What is the Condition Being Studied?

Smokers

Who Can Participate in the Study?

Occasional smokers who are age 18-25 and generally healthy.

What is Involved?

If you choose to join this study, you will:

- Have 6 visits to the lab, each lasting 1-2.5 hrs.
- Provide breath and urine samples and complete questionnaires
- Have 3 sessions where you will be asked to inhale smoke from one of three investigational cigarettes and answer questions about your experience.

-- Some of the cigarettes provided by the lab may contain less nicotine than what is found in most brands.  
-- Other cigarettes may contain a normal amount of nicotine.

- At your last visit, you will be asked to choose which cigarette you would most like to smoke.
