CREST-2 - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to learn more about the long-term outcomes of people on an intensive medical management plan alone, and with carotid endarterectomy (CEA).
What is the Condition Being Studied?
Carotid Artery Disease

Who Can Participate in the Study?

- Adults 35 years and up
- Have carotid artery disease
- No symptoms like stroke, heart attack, hemorrhage (bleeding)

Adults

What is Involved?

If you choose to join this study, you will:
- Meet with your doctor to decide if carotid endarterectomy (CEA) or carotid artery stenting (CAS) is best for you
- If CEA is chosen you will be randomized (like flipping a coin) to group 1 or group 2
-- Group 1 will get intensive medical management and CEA surgery
-- Group 2 will get intensive medical management only
