Recognized as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery
Patients who pay out of pocket can now have gastric banding surgery at James E. Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center.
Self-pay patients go through the Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery’s comprehensive program in the same manner as every other patient, including visits with nutritionists, psychologists, physicians, and nurses. The gastric banding procedure is performed by a surgeon with the Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery at the James E. Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center, Durham Regional Hospital’s outpatient surgical center.
The multi-specialty James E. Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center, part of the Duke University Health System, provides outpatient surgery in a warm, caring environment.
The facility includes eight operating rooms, five overnight patient rooms, four pre- and post-operative bays for patients having endoscopic procedures, two patient-physician consultation rooms, additional space for patient registration and an additional handicap-accessible ramp.
