The Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery offers an individually tailored approach to surgery. We perform minimally invasive endoscopic and single incision laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and revisional surgery, as well as occasional open surgery.

We offer a full range of procedures including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, and duodenal switch.

Each procedure is quite different -- they have different risks and weight loss results. For a quick view of the differences between each procedure, download a comparison chart (PDF, 20 KB).

You and your physician will discuss your medical history and goals to determine which procedure is best for you. Select an option below to learn more.

  • Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
  • Gastric banding
  • Sleeve gastrectomy
  • Duodenal switch

The Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery also performs weight loss surgery revision procedures for patients who have gained weight after a previous weight loss surgery procedure.

After successful weight loss surgery, patients are sometimes left with loose skin that hides the results of the surgery. Our skilled plastic surgeons offer body contouring procedures to remove unwanted deposits of fat and skin and to smooth the appearance of the body.
