Kelli Friedman, PhD, earned her bachelor of arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to earn her master’s degree in education from Harvard University.

In 2002, Friedman earned a PhD from Duke University and completed a fellowship with the Duke University Department of Psychiatry.

Friedman’s role with the Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery includes:

• Performing psychological assessments for weight loss surgery candidates to identify psychosocial factors relevant to treatment and recovery
• Lead cognitive-behavioral groups pre and post weight loss surgery
• Assist in development and implementation of support group series
• Conduct research relevant to psychosocial issues related to weight loss surgery

Her clinical interests also include brief interventions such as stress management, behavioral interventions for weight management, and general consultation with surgical team.
