Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. Use the calculator below to determine your BMI.

BMI Categories

• Underweight = under 18.5
• Normal weight = 18.5 - 24.9
• Overweight = 25 - 29.9
• Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

To qualify for insurance coverage for weight loss surgery, you must have either:

• A body mass index greater than or equal to 40
• Body mass index between 35 and 39 and at least one major medical co-morbidity, such as respiratory problems, diabetes, or hypertension.
