Duke provides expert evaluation and treatment from a team of specialists from both gynecology and urology, in a comfortable and friendly environment.

With one clinic visit, your entire evaluation will be completed, and you will have access to all state-of-the-art therapies available.

This service treats all problems women may have related to their bladder or female organs. Specific conditions treated include:

  • Urinary incontinence
  • Voiding difficulties
  • Vaginal/pelvic organ prolapse
  • Vesicovaginal fistula
  • Recurrent urinary infection
  • Fecal incontinence
  • Abnormalities of the urethra such as diverticulum

There are many different ways to manage each of these problems, and they should not be considered an automatic part of growing older nor as being uncorrectable.

At Duke, our physicians provide you with diagnostic and therapeutic options tailored to your problem. Then you can make an informed decision.

Your basic evaluation may include:

  • Pelvic examination
  • Urine examination
  • Cystoscopy
  • Video urodynamics

Read a description of these and other tests.

Depending on your symptoms, your exam may also include x-ray studies such as:

  • Defecography
  • Pelvic MRI
  • Anal sphincter EMG or ultrasound

Upon review of the results of your evaluation we may recommend treatments including:

  • Behavioral therapy
  • Estrogen therapy
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Surgery
