Duke Division of Urology

Share

Over eight decades of experience in caring for patients with urologic diseases has established Duke's Division of Urology as a world leader in urologic care, research, and education.

In 2011, Duke was ranked #8 in the nation by U.S.News & World Report for urologic services.

Our clinical faculty is recognized worldwide for its expertise in the areas of urologic oncology, urogynecology, male infertility, sexual dysfunction, kidney stones, neurourology, reconstructive urology, renal transplants, and urologic disorders in children.

Leaders in Prostate Cancer Research and Treatment

The division has developed a focused Duke Prostate Center in collaboration with the Duke Cancer Institute, the Radiation Oncology Department, and Medical Oncology.

Duke’s dedicated physicians and researchers are pioneering new approaches to battling prostate cancer, including:

  • Examining patterns of gene expression within prostate cancer tumors
  • Analyzing prognostic factors associated with health disparities for individualized, optimized prostate cancer screening protocols
  • Exploring the use of laparoscopic and robotic prostatectomy procedures to remove the prostate without making large incisions, so patients recover faster with fewer complications
