Duke’s experienced trainers design individualized programs to help athletes of all levels prevent injury and close the gap between athletic potential and performance.
The programs draw on the sports-injury and research testing performed at the Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Research Laboratory, respectfully known as "K-Lab."
For each athlete, our staff selects assessments that are specific to his or her sport, position, and goals. Assessments may include VO2 max and lactate threshold, and various tests of agility, speed, power, strength, stamina, flexibility, and body composition. We apply the data to maximize each athlete's training and performance.
Our Programs
Sports Performance programs include:
- Sport-Specific/Athlete-Specific Personal Training Program: We help athletes of all ranks achieve higher performance levels, showing them the quickest route to their potential.
- Professional and Elite Athletes Program: We offer this program as a supplement to professional teams' player development and medical programs, as well as for non-professional elite athletes. It includes the services of exercise physiologists, a sports nutritionist, sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, and a sports psychologist. Options for hotel accommodation include the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, where the chef works with our nutritionist to provide our athletes with optimal nutrition that suits their preferences and needs.
- Master Athletes Program: This program parallels our Personal Training and Professional Athletes programs and focuses on the needs of athletes over 40.
- Duke University Varsity Athletes Program: We provide performance testing and data analysis for Duke University's NCAA Division I teams.
