Sleep Disorders Diagnostic Tests

Share

Our doctors specialize in polysomnography, diagnostic sleep testing also known as a sleep study.

Recognized as the gold standard in identifying significant sleep problems, sleep studies generally include overnight monitoring of:

  • Airflow
  • Blood oxygen level
  • Blood pressure
  • Brain wave pattern
  • Electrocardiographic activity
  • Movement of eyes, limbs, and muscles

When examined together, these components provide a comprehensive look at each patient's unique sleep patterns, as well as valuable insight into the origin of his or her sleep problems.

We also perform sleep latency testing and vigilance testing, and provide twice-weekly outpatient clinics to evaluate people suffering from all forms of sleep disorders.

Appointments

Patients can be referred by their physician for an overnight sleep study or may schedule an appointment with a Duke sleep specialist by calling 919-681-7600 for a consultation.
