For patients in need of a natural-appearing prosthesis for the face, fingers, hand, or body, Duke Anaplastology provides restorations created just for your special situation.

We work closely with our surgeons and ancillary staff of prosthetists/orthotists, physician associates, occupational and physical therapists, and psychologists in personally treating your needs.

Facial Prostheses

Facial prostheses can be as small as a nostril or as large as half of the face. Our objective is to fit you with a custom-fabricated, silicone device that helps you resume your normal activities, without further surgery and in as short a period of time as possible.

Facial prostheses can be used temporarily while waiting for reconstructive surgery or permanently in lieu of surgery.

Partial Hand Prostheses

Mutilating hand injuries alter every aspect of your life. Duke’s partial hand prostheses are designed especially for you and your needs.

At Duke, we work as a team to create the best possible restorations for both the function and appearance of your hand.

Finger Prostheses

Finger prostheses can be made in silicone rubber to look amazingly like the other digits of your hand. With as little as two centimeters of bone projecting from the web space, we can fit a device that will hold securely with suction. Realistic nails can be polished without changing the natural colors underneath.

Body Restorations

Using special materials, we can create a variety of body restorations for the shoulder, calf, skull and breast. Most somato (body) prostheses designed in our lab are made to be worn under clothing or stockings.
