Wheelchair Evaluation and Seating Clinic

Duke Physical and Occupational Therapy provides comprehensive evaluations for manual wheelchairs, scooters, and power wheelchairs. These evaluations are performed by our team of occupational and physical therapists, certified assistive technology professionals, and a rehabilitation engineer.
Proper wheelchair positioning with an individualized seating system can:
- Promote good posture
- Enhance breathing
- Prevent complications such as pressure sores
- Slow further loss of mobility
- Minimize pain
Recommendations are based on insurance guidelines for allowable equipment.
A physician referral is required for an evaluation in the clinic.
