General Medicine Physical and Occupational Therapy Programs

Duke Physical and Occupational Therapy provides general medicine therapy services that integrate a team approach to treat the medically complex patient.
Our therapists take into account the patient’s various health problems and create an individualized intervention plan specific to each patient’s goals.
We provide care in the intensive care unit as well as the general medicine intermediate units.
Some common patient diagnoses include:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Gastrointestinal bleeding and inflammation
- Liver cirrhosis
- Peripheral vascular disease
- AIDS and HIV
- General deconditioning
