Cardiothoracic Physical and Occupational Therapy Programs

Rehabilitation through Duke Physical and Occupational Therapy is a key part of the thoracic surgery program at Duke Heart Center.
Therapists provide patients with the precautions and exercise and activity guidelines to recover from major chest surgery.
We offer family-centered care with an emphasis on health promotion and wellness, function restoration, prevention of complications, and maintenance of optimal patient response through patient and family education.
We are consulted to provide care to patients who have had:
- Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation
- Heart and lung transplantation
- Valve replacement
- Bypass (CABG)
