Dialysis

Active dialysis programs are offered for both inpatients and outpatients.

For inpatients, acute dialysis services offered include:

  • Hemodialysis -- waste products and fluid are removed by a machine
  • Peritoneal dialysis -- a solution is flushed into the abdominal cavity, and the abdominal lining acts as a natural filter
  • Continuous renal replacement therapies -- for critically ill patients who may not tolerate the rapid fluid and electrolyte shifts that occur during hemodialysis

For outpatients, eight outpatient dialysis units provide care for more than 700 patients. Active peritoneal, nocturnal, and home hemodialysis programs are also offered.
