Duke internal medicine physicians provide quality care for
the prevention and treatment of disease in adults ages 18 and
older.
Each Duke internist is an expert in diagnosing and caring
for medical problems both simple and complex. The most common
conditions we treat at our clinics are:
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- High cholesterol
- Pain in the abdomen, lower back, or extremities
- Heart disease
- Coughs and other respiratory illnesses
- Urinary tract infections
- Asthma
- Malaise, fatigue, and anxiety
- Headache
We also provide the full complement of preventive medical
care, including routine screenings and immunizations, to help
our patients maintain or improve their health.
In addition, genetic testing and counseling for specific
medical conditions is currently being offered in certain
internal medicine practices with Duke Primary Care. Genetic
testing can help identify patients who are at high risk for
specific conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, breast
cancer, prostate cancer and blood clotting disorders.
