Carl Dornan, MS, offers a wide array of knowledge and experience to the Duke Health & Fitness Center personal training team.
He received his bachelor of science in sports science from the University of Glamorgan, Wales. Following graduation, Carl moved to the United States where he completed an internship in cardiac rehabilitation at The Cleveland Clinic, gaining extensive clinical experience. To further his knowledge, Carl completed his MS in exercise physiology/adult fitness at the University of Akron, Ohio.
After graduation Carl became the director of a large weight-loss program at a private personal training facility where he would perform Vo2 max and body composition tests, while writing exercise prescriptions and tracking client progress.
To further his clinical skills, Carl then became an exercise physiologist working in the cardiac rehabilitation department at Akron City Hospital. Duties included extensive case management, pre-program assessments, and EKG stress testing.
Carl also has experience training competitive athletes ranging from high school basketball players to football players training for the NFL draft.
Carl loves to work with all types of clients from those needing rehabilitation to competitive athletes.
