The Duke Hospital Consultation Service provides specialized geriatric consultations at Duke University Hospital for frail, older adults with complex, life-threatening, or chronic conditions.

Our team consists of an attending physician and a geriatric medicine fellow. Our multidisciplinary program draws on resources within the hospital, as well as those of home health agencies, hospice, local communities, and outpatient providers to enhance hospital care and assist in easing the transition to subsequent care at home or in other care settings.

Consultations are frequently requested to address:

• Cognitive changes
• Delirium
• Depression
• Dementia
• Medication review
• Pain management
