At Duke Center for Eating Disorders, family members are actively involved in the treatment process.

Maudsley Family Therapy or Parent Skills Training are integral to treatment for a child or adolescent client, while integrating an individual’s social support network is also crucial for treating adult patients.

Family members or significant others of adult clients may be involved through family therapy, marital counseling, individual support, or group participation.

This involvement in the recovery process empowers family members to work as a team to restore health. The nature and frequency of family involvement is a mutual decision between the client and therapist.

Immersive Family Program

The immersive family program is an intensive week-long experience for the entire family to catapult the treatment of adolescent eating disorders and give desperate parents the tools they need to manage their child’s eating disorder. Learn about our Immersive Family Program.
