Patients seeking treatment at Duke Center for Eating Disorders for an eating disorder will undergo an initial assessment or intake evaluation.
The initial assessment includes a psychological interview with one of our licensed clinicians during which a detailed clinical history is taken and treatment goals are identified.
In addition to this interview, each individual presenting for treatment is asked to complete a computerized assessment and pencil-and-paper questionnaires. The standardized questionnaires help us understand the severity of current symptoms and provide us with information about personality features, social functioning, and stress and coping skills.
A summary of the assessment and recommendations for treatment is provided at a feedback or follow-up session.
