The Duke Diet & Fitness Center is located in Durham, North Carolina, on the medical campus of Duke University Health System.

A stay at our center affords easy access not only to the team care you need to reach your goals, but also to all that the Research Triangle Park area has to offer: performing arts venues, museums, hiking trails, and historical sites.

We look forward to your visit.

Our medical expertise is what sets us apart from many weight loss programs.

Our treatment team offers a serious, medically based approach to guiding you on your journey to optimal health. Here, Dr. Ronald Sha, our medical director, examines a new DFC client.

The lap pool is one of our most popular fitness amenities. Ours offers a heated saline system, making it as soothing and relaxing as possible for our clients. The saline system is environmentally preferable to chlorinated systems, and is softer on your skin.

The pool is open seven days a week, with group class offerings throughout the day from Monday through Saturday. In this picture, Gerald Endress, our fitness director, leads a pool class.

The schedule at DFC will keep you busy, but there is always time to catch up with other clients. Meal time is one of them. We offer an extensive salad bar at lunch and dinner, along with fantastic entrées and side dishes that are sure to please.

Our executive cooking team offers delicious, fresh fare at all meals. On several days during your stay, we will offer specialties such as omelet, grill, and carving stations.

Each client works with a member of our nutrition staff to learn more about their dietary needs and how to make wise food choices both at the DFC and back at home.

Each client will meet with a member of our behavioral health staff. Here, Dr. Sofia Rydin-Gray meets with a client to discuss goals, how she can enjoy her visit to the DFC, and how best to develop long-term support for continued success.

Whether you are new to exercise or have simply been away from it for a while, you will receive one-on-one instruction on the use of all exercise equipment at the DFC.

We work with you to identify the best, most enjoyable exercise options for you.

Lectures are offered throughout the day at the DFC. Each member of our care team is an expert in the medical management of obesity and overweight, and in the treatment of associated health issues.

They will help you understand all aspects of your health condition and provide a non-judgmental environment in which to lay the foundation for success.

Although your days at the DFC will be filled, you will have ample down time with us.

Perhaps you will use some of that free time to relax and rejuvenate with a massage….

(Massage treatments are not included in our program pricing. They are available via a la carte service offerings.)

[10 of 11]
Our skilled massage therapists use equipment that accommodates people of all shapes and sizes.

They can help you relax and revitalize, and they can help ease tired muscles. Your time at the DFC is an investment in your health and future.

We look forward to working with you on your journey.
